Piedmont is a playable nation in Cossacks 3, added in the The Golden Age DLC.
"Piedmont," not to be confused with various areas in North America, refers to an area of northwestern Italy which, for much of the Enlightenment, was a part of the Duchy of Savoy and Holy Roman Empire. With the Empire's decline in the 17th century, Savoy moved in to gain virtually all of Piedmont. By the end of the 18 century, however, the French, reforming into a republic, invaded Piedmont and Savoy, establishing several client republics centered around Piedmont, with territories in Sardinia as well. As the French were driven back and defeated, Piedmont regained its independence, but under the monarchy of Sardinia. The Kingdom of Sardinia, with its continental holdings initially in Piedmont, would, over the course of the 19th century, become the base for Italian unification. The Kings of Sardinia eventually united all of Italy into a single kingdom that would last until the middle of the 20th century.
Piedmont has a typical European roster with no particular strengths and weaknesses.
